Yesterday, I upgraded my Xfinity Internet service to "Superfast". This is supposed to give me approximately 600 Mbps download, 15 Mbps upload. I've read that it can't support up to 686 Mbps download. Using various speed test sites, including Xfinity, I'm getting around 500 Mbps on average. My typical experience with my Xfinity Internet speed has been that is usually exceeds the speed of my plan by about 10%. Is this a limitation of my modem, or should I contact Xfinity and ask them to check to ensure my signal is OK? I appreciate any input!

[Equip] XB7 Technicolor CGM4331COM/Arris TG4482 - Wireless AX(Wi-Fi 6)
Looks like a new xfinity gateway passed through testing. No idea if it's going to be called the XB6 still, probably XB7 or something. Model number seems to be CGM4331COM. The test report mentions that it has 802.11ax. Looks like this unit may only have 4 antennas(4x4 AX on both bands). The current XB6 are a 2x2 N 2.4 GHz + 8x8 AC 5 GHz design(I believe it has a total of 12 antennas as a result).
See -
https://fcc.io/G95/4331X
Submitted shortly before it, are two other Technicolor devices called the XHR1-TC and the XHU1-TC. The XHU1-TC might be something like the current XB6 power supply, but upgraded? Its description is listed as "LTE power supply." The XHR1-TC is listed as a Zigbee repeater.
No idea if this will have a fan, but the label does say 12V/4.6A, so 55.2 watts, so I guess it will. The original Technicolor XB6(CGM4140COM) had a 60 watt power supply.
Edit: Changed title to reflect XB7
Edit2: Title updated again to mention Arris version if it arrives.

[Signals] "Dynamic Range Window violation" error
My downstream power levels were hot and I was seeing uncorrected errors on the non OFDM channels, so after a disastrous Comcast service call (he must be new), I bought a "PPC FPA6-54 Forward Path Attenuator 6dB 75 Ohms" and installed it right before the cable modem after the split. The signal levels and error log have looked great, except this morning I am seeing two concerning errors in the log:
"Dynamic Range Window violation"
"RNG-RSP CCAP Commanded Power in Excess of 6 dB Below the Value Corresponding to the Top of the DRW"
The cable modem is working great so far with no drops and gig speed, but these errors concern me and seem to apply to the discrepancy between upstream and downstream power.
I'll cut and paste my signal levels below... thanks for any help.

[Rant] Download congestion at peak times. Amazing Comcast!
So over the past few weeks been trying to figure out why my download speed will dump down to 600-700 Mbps at peak times. Sometimes it will dip down to mid 500 Mbps. I'm on a gigabit plan. I haven't posted about it until now.
Multiple speed tests to multiple sources all show the issue.
I tested with Xfinity's own app speed testing to the gateway and that says I need to update my gateway and it can't keep up. Real nice suggestion when I already have an XB8...
I was able to get somebody to check the node usage and they said average DS utilization was around 45%
Perhaps the congestion is higher up the chain but multiple sources all show it at peak times it seems.
Not sure what's going on but around 11PM to midnight the congestion is gone as typical.
I wonder if I should file another useless FCC complaint go though a bunch of techs telling me nothing is wrong lmao.
But pretty much this is a rant because there is nothing I can do it fix it and comcast can clear themselves of the issue saying speeds are not guaranteed. It of course is still usable but pure BS.

[Signals] Why would my Gateway (CGM4331COM) Cause TV Pixelation ?
Very strange. For the last 2+ weeks ONE CHANNEL (and only one) has becomes unwatchable due to pixelation either live or recorded on my X1 4K box and the 1 other box in our home.. I discovered today is fine using Xfinity stream which seemed to eliminate a head end or transmission issue. I have replaced cables, splitters, tightened connections and rebooted everything umpteen times. The CGM4331COM Gateway sits about 2 feet from the X1 box sharing a port off the same 2-way splitter (happened even after replacing splitter, cables AND when I moved it a few feet further away).
Anyway, after trying everything else I removed the Gateway and lo and behold the unwatchable channel became perfectly fine again. Plugged the Gateway back in and the channel went bad again. If it matters it's a local Fox network digital sub-channel WRBW from Orlando on Xfinity channel 436. I then relocated the Gateway to another room and all seems stable again except my GW is too far from "center" of our home where I prefer it but will have to do at the moment. It has been fine for months before this started. My wife has been at wits end because she couldn't watch her "Peoples Court" recordings which have been all unwatchable.
Having been in a long past life a DirecTV & ISP (MDU) tech I am familiar with proper terminations, splitters etc etc. so that is all perfectly fine.
Do you think I need to swap out the Gateway ?

[Other] Memory lane. Found a self install kit Cira 2006ish cleaning up.
So I was cleaning up awhile ago and stumbled upon a comcast self install kit among with CD-ROMs. I didn't take a picture as I disposed of it :(
At the time it was like 3-4 Mbps I think and then around 2007 I got bumped to 6 Mbps. Later on i did the extra upgrade to 8 Mbps.
At the time I was given I think was a SB5120.
A bit down memory lane. Figure some might get a kick out of this.
It seems people are still trying to sell them on eBay. No idea if they would even still work lmao

[Business] What deals are Comcast Business doing for upgrades right now?
I have 150/20 for $104.95 a month.
Has anyone been able to get 300/30 for less than the $180 advertised on their page? Or do they have any other deals they're not advertising right now?
Usually calling in to upgrade ends up being a long time on the phone so I just wonder if it's worth the time.

[Firmware] LACP support

I think the list is as follows (please correct if wrong on any)

I figured I'd toss this out there as I'm planning to get a CM1200 and do LACP with it.

[Price] An additional $11 a month to be able to upgrade modem?
I received the following email:
"Our new xFi Complete gives you peace of mind to do everything you love online with Unlimited Data and helps keep your devices safe and secure from cyberthreats at home and on the go.
Switch to xFi Complete for $11 more a month and you can upgrade your modem after three years for a better, more reliable connection for your home."
So, if I don't pay that, will I always have to use the same modem? Or will I have to pay if I want to swap my current one out for a newer one?
What's interesting is that it says "unlimited data". Does that mean there would be no data cap with this?

[Connection] Data usage through the roof: Is it really me?
Comcast tells me I have exceeded my monthly data limit already in April, for the first time. And, I can't believe it! We have not changed our viewing habits - I credit data usage to HD tv - from Jan to April. Here are their numbers: Jan, 509; Feb, 432; Mar, 959, to April 25, 1229. I can't find any evidence someone else is using my (user-owned) modem or router. Their email offered a courtesy month at no extra charge, with added fees in future months should I continue my (bad) habits. We stream tv 2-3 hours/day, music 1-2 hours/day. Of course, we have ipads and iphones, too and read apps. No games on any device. Can't figure out how I got that high level this month.

MB8600 Modem - Lost an upstream channel
For some reason I can tell based on the event log reported by the modem, out of 4 upstrean channels , I only see 3 now. Midco tech checked and didn't find anything wrong. There are 4 channels seen on his test meter. The 4th channel has 40dBv but modem won't show it. Not sure if that would cause these events in the modem?. Does anyone know what would be the possible cause of these ? Thanks

[Plan] Help deciding which plan go for. Customer Services is clueless.
Hope you guys can help me decide on which plan to get.
I'm moving into a new place and I'm told for the first few months there will only be Xfinity as provider. I don't have any experiance with Xfinity and I tried talking to their customer services and chat... CLUELESS and not the same answer. I also did some research but I'd like your advice on a few things.
1) Which Plan to get
From my understand the upload speeds are pathetic...
So my options are
Connect(50/10) 25$/Month
Connect More(100/10) 40$/Month
Fast(300/10) 50$/Month
Superfast(600/20) 50$/Month
Ultrafast(900/20) 60$/Month
Gigabit Extra( 1200/35) 70$/Month.
The only attractive ones are
Connect(50/10) 25$/Month
&
Superfast(600/20) 50$/Month
Are those the real upload speeds? Or is it an UP TO? so I can get the 50/10 but I really get 50/1 ? lol
Note: Pricing is with 12 Months term after that who knows...
2) Modem
xFi Gateway for $14.00/mo
or
xFi Complete for $25.00/mo
That's a little expensive if you ask me... It's a 1,200sqft townhouse. Only need the gateway.
The question is.
Can I get the xFi Gateway for 1 month so they can troubleshoot fix everything. Then return it and buy a Docsis 3.1 modem?
As when I called they said if i bring my own modem they will give me 0 support...
3) Mobile
I must be missing something here.
If I get the basic 15$ By the Gig plan. I get 30$ rebate on the internet.
So essentially I'm getting 15$ to leave a sim card on my table? lol
Some say its for 12months and some say it's a forever promo...
Thank you! Sorry for the brain dump but I wanted to put everything in one post because I'm getting too many conflicting answers.

Odd packet loss and poor signal only with D3.1 modems
I've been experiencing intermittent packet loss for the past ~week and yesterday while it was raining it got bad enough that my modem would reboot, knocking me offline for minutes at a time. I'm using an SB8200 and the signal page looked like this:

Notice the poor SNR (down to 0.0) and large number of uncorrectable errors on some channels. I checked that all my connections inside were tight, contacted support and a tech came out this morning.
The tech metered everything from the tap to the modem and the only thing that looked incorrect was that the ground block at the service entrance to my home was not actually grounded. He replaced the ground, re-terminated some connections, and showed me the readings from his meter, which showed everything in-spec. It seemed like the culprit was my modem, so we swapped in an old SB6183 I had in the closet, and that showed excellent signal parameters:

So I figured my modem got fried somehow, signed off that everything was working and the tech left. During lunch I went to Best Buy and picked up an MB8611. I swapped it in, activated, and was very surprised to see that it had poor readings similar to the SB8200:

It'd be quite a coincidence that two different D3.1 modems, one brand new out of the box, could both be bad while the old 16x4 D3.0 modem in my closet and the tech's signal analyzer show excellent signals. A Comcast manager called me to check that everything is working and said he's going to send out a supervisor to do some more troubleshooting when I explained the above.
Anyone see anything like this before?
