I'm stuck in a location in Connecticut where the only choices are Comcast and AT&T. For phones, a requirement is to keep landline POTS. I had AT&T switch me in November from 3M DSL to 6M ADSL2+ Uverse (that's the max sync rate out here; no fiber). They were pushing me to switch and there was value in the speed increase to price increase. Also, the old speedstream 5100 was getting a bit tired - it'd fall off the ATM every couple of days and wouldn't redial unless it was rebooted.
The ADSL2+ loses sync almost every day after midnight and last night there was a 2 hour long outage where it synced and got an IP but packets wouldn't route past SBCGlobal's border. I could probably fix the sync problem by running a new pair from the NID to the jack but that involves running a new wire from the basement up a couple of floors and is going to be a big pain.
I currently pay $46/mo flat rate for 6M (no other fees) on Uverse. Not sure if that is a promo rate or not (I think it may be). The first year promo rate for Comcast Performance 25M is $40 which is pretty good, but why does Comcast say that the post-first-year rate my vary from $43 to $67? Based on y'all's experiences what is more likely, that the resulting rate is closer to the $43 side or the $67 side? I don't care for TV so I'm not going to be bundling. I'll also buy my own SB6121.
Finally is it worth all the administrivia headache to switch? If I run into an signal problem, it is actually going to be easier to rewire the cable parts of the house so on the technical side it will be easier to deal with but I hear all of these horror stories about Comcrap.
